Recognition and certificates

Recognition and Certificates

This year UHSU is implementing three-tiers system to recognise student representatives: Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates. For details, please refer to Student Rep handbook that can be downloaded at www.uhsu.co.uk/reps

The UH/UHSU award officially recognises your contribution as a Student representative and as a volunteer. It is countersigned by both the UH Vice-chancellor and UHSU president. This certificate can be used as evidence that you have developed specialised skills and might enhance students’ employability. The three-tier system recognises the different level of commitment and quality of your contribution.

Note: All Representatives must attend or have attended the student representative specific training programme regardless of their level of experience.

How are you going to be recognised?

Student Reps can attend any TRAKS sessions (soft skills and Student Rep training) and can gain a Student rep TRAKS certificate by attending at least 3 of the 4 Student Rep training sessions.

To receive a Bronze Student Rep Certificate you will need to:

Attend at least 3 of the Student Reps’ specific training sessions (if you have already attended these you will need to provide evidence of this)
Provide some evidence of having attended at least one faculty meeting(by providing minutes of meetings and/or letter from programme tutor)
Attend at least 2 Focus Groups (these are arranged by UHSU)
Complete two of the four logbook forms (these are short-questionnaire-type forms that will be send to you by UHSU via e-mail every month and will have to be returned via e-mail within six days)

To receive a Silver Student Rep Certificate you will need to:

  • Attend all Student Reps’ specific training sessions
  • Provide evidence of attending 60% of all internal faculty meetings
  • Attend at least 3 Focus Groups and manage to bring ONE student to at least two of them
  • Be involved in UH and UHSU representation activities (i.e. participation to UHSU campaigns and UH initiatives)
  • Demonstrate that you made a major contribution to the enhancement of your programme  (this will need to be evidenced).
  • Complete three of the four logbooks forms

To receive a Gold Rep Certificate you will need to:

  • Attend at all the Course Reps’ specific training sessions
  • Provide evidence of being proactively involved in all internal faculty meetings (i.e. made a contribution in the meeting that has been minuted and/or of which there is some evidence)
  • Attend at least 3 Focus Groups and have managed to bring other five students to at least two of them
  • Be directly and proactively involved with UH and UHSU representation activities
  • Demonstrate that you have made an outstanding contribution to the enhancement of your programme and the welfare of students from your programme
  • Complete all four logbook forms
