ACLT Bone Marrow donation
Heroes Wanted
It just takes 30 minutes to potentially save a life
WEDNESDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2010
The ACLT in conjunction with the UHSU, Anthony Nolan Trust and the National Blood Service will provide an opportunity for all students to join the bone marrow and blood donor registers.
The process takes no more than 30 minutes in total and includes a short presentation about joining the register.
One to one counseling is also required for each student wishing to proceed; this will take place onsite and is part of the 30-minute session.
Finally, a small sample of blood (approximately a tablespoon) will be taken by qualified blood takers, which will be used to place you on the bone marrow register.
Bone marrow donors must be between 18 – 49 years (staying on the register until 60th birthday)
New blood donors must be between 17- 65 years.
You must weigh at least 8st (52kgs)
