Athletic Union
The University of Hertfordshire’s Athletic Union (AU) supports students of all sporting ability, whether you are an elite athlete on a scholarship programme, or a student wishing to participate on a more social or recreational level. The majority of our sports clubs represent the University by competing in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and competitions, which are played on Wednesday afternoons and weekends across the country.
The AU is currently responsible for 29 Sports Clubs including: American Football, Badminton, Basketball, Canoeing, Cheerleading, Climbing, Climbing, Cricket, Dance, Fencing, Football (Men’s & Women’s), Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Mountain Biking, Netball, Rowing, Rugby (Men’s & Women’s), Ski & Snowboarding, Squash, Swimming, Tennis and Trampolining, plus 6 Martial Arts Clubs: Aikido, Capoeira, Jitsu, Karate, Kickboxing and Wu Shu Kwan
Intra-Mural Sport
Intra-Mural Sport is a series of leagues and competitions offered to students of all abilities who wish to play sport at a more recreational level while at university. There is still a strong competitive element involved, with the winners being awarded prizes at the end of the competition. All Intra-Mural fixtures are played using the top class facilities at Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland Campus. The Intra-Mural Football Programme is highly successful and always developing, with both 11-a-side and 5-a-side competitions currently available, but a much bigger programme of sport is now being developed for the future!
