At UHSU we are more than aware that our actions as a student lead organisation affect the world around us we are always actively looking to make a cleaner union.

UHSU’s environmental policy: “UHSU will actively stride to lower its carbon footprint; also will support any students when feasibly possible to promote a cleaner, greener union”.

Here is just a small list of the little things that make a big impact on our union

• Travel expense evaluation to make sure public transport is always the preferred choice

• Recycling bins placed around our new £38m venue

• Working with the University's environmental team to help promote campaigns and services

• Environmental committee to keep students in the loop

• In the development of the Forum we have introduced new and exciting technologies to ensure we monitor and regulate our outgoings.

• Our water waste management system uses rain water collected from the Forum

• A central emissions hub a display hub showing all the emissions of the Forum giving students and staff a direct insight into what we are using and where it’s going.

UHSU not just environment but ethical

We proudly sell fair trade products and we are looking into not just the cost of the products we sell to our students but working together for a fairer union.
